FUNCTIONAL MENTAL HEALTH NUTRITION

Courses for Acupuncturists

J

effrey Bland, PhD, first to ever use the words, “functional medicine,” was originally inspired by the systems thinking of the early acupuncturists he encountered in the Seattle area in the late 1970s.

That’s why those with a background in east asian medicine have a natural advantage when learning functional nutrition approaches. We already think in terms of metabolic relationships and pleiotropic health issues; we don’t have to unlearn reductionist instincts.

Pleiotropy is the idea that what we understand as disease is the result of different causes combining in different ways in different people.

Functional Mental Health Nutrition courses add new, science-based tools to your clinical toolkit with an emphasis on diet, food awareness and carefully selected supplements as interventions.
