The signs become obvious once one learns to read them.

For the right clients, Functional Nutrition education can be a crucial tool to help address mental health symptoms. They empower clients with safe, actionable steps that help them build a sense of agency as they watch inflammation or deficiency-driven symptoms ease.

Done well this work isn’t about creating eating disorders. It’s not the things we do now and then that concern us.

It’s the things we do every day. Healthy eating isn’t about being a saint, it’s about being informed. At worst, certain staple foods sometimes need to become delicacies, the ones we enjoy to celebrate.

In this day of highly industrialized food it’s more important than ever for the mental health community to become aware of just how food impacts mood and how to teach clients to leverage our new knowledge of brain/gut connections to get the most from their investments in therapy.
